At Cornflower Counselling, our mission is to provide a compassionate, supportive and non-judgemental space. A space where clients feel free to safely express themselves as we support them in their journey of personal growth.
Firstly well done for reaching out for support. It can be hard to recognise the need for help and scary to seek it. Clients often find that once they start counselling it's a lot less scary than they first thought. I will be guided by you and what you need. Clients often seek counselling in crisis which I can support you through however, if you are in immediate danger please seek help by calling 999, 111 or The Samaritans 116 123
Hi! Let me introduce myself; I'm Louise a Person-Centred Counsellor in the Southampton area. I'm a fully qualified counsellor, member of the BACP (association for professional counsellors and psychotherapists, setting ethical standards of practise).
For more information see https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-us/home/information-about-bacp/
My journey of counselling started many years ago when I began my degree in Psychology at the University of Psychology where I achieved my BSc(Hons). This enhanced my understanding of people, relationships and childhood development. After a few years working with children and working on my own journey of personal growth, my passion for counselling started to grow.
Through suffering personal bereavement, fertility problems and chronic illness, my counselling journey showed me just how freeing and life changing counselling can be. I went onto starting my counselling career by achieving my DipHE. Through working with clients as well as my own self-discovery, I learnt so much about myself, how my past was affecting the now and experienced the power of being heard and accepted in a safe space.
This is what I aim to bring to clients at Cornflower Counselling.
At Cornflower Counselling, I have years of experience helping many individuals navigate life's challenges. I have supported clients in a wide range of areas including:
Loss & Bereavement

Cornflower Counselling is a counselling service that provides mental health support to individuals in need.
Firstly well done for reaching out for support. It can be hard to recognise the need for help and scary to seek it. Clients often find that once they start counselling it's a lot less scary than they first thought. I will be guided by you regarding length of sessions; which usually last max of 50 minutes. I will support you will what you wish to gain from counselling but may make suggestions and observations that I feel could be helpful. This will all be discussed on our first initial session which will be 1 hour.
I work by being guided by the client. Sometimes some silence can be helpful to process your thoughts/emotions. However if it's more of an nervous silence I have resources we can use that aid communication and expression.
You can book an appointment with Cornflower Counselling by contacting me via email or fill out our contact form above.
I offer counselling to individuals on a short-term basis or long-term. Sessions are normally at the same day on a weekly basis, however if you need different dates due to shifts/etc. or sessions less regularly I will do my best to accommodate you. We will discuss all this on the first initial session.
Absolutely! I offer face to face counselling in my comfortable and sunny room. I also offer online and telephone appointments.
Yes definitely. I am a member of the BACP ethical body, a big part of which is upholding confidentiality. Everything you share with me is kept between ourselves, except in rare certain legal circumstances, which we will discuss in our first session. I am required under the BACP ethical regulations, to see my supervisor where I discuss clients to help keep my practise ethical and better support you. However no identifiable information is shared. I keep notes from our sessions confidential by using a coding system so names are not identifiable as well as information recorded. Notes are securely protected via a private login and information is destroyed after 7 years, as required by the BACP.
